The Interconnectedness of Mindset and Learning Strategies: How Teaching the Lexical Approach could Support Deep Learning

Mindset can have a profound effect on language learners’ willingness to engage in learning as well their choice of strategy. Growth mindset learners, who embrace challenge, could prefer deep strategies, which require cognitive engagement. Conversely, fixed believe that abilities are unchangeable, would shallow need less effort. To exploit an existing growth and foster the move away from mindset, this study proposes introducing Lexical Approach Consequently, research explored relationship between strategy by way online questionnaire administered Bachelor degree students at UAS Burgenland, Austria. Additionally, strategy’s connection with age, mode English achievement were examined. Results obtained 211 participants revealed no significant overall or age study.
